Joshua was raised in Detroit, Michigan. In 2005 he moved to New York City, serving for three years as a designer at Landor Associates. There, he was responsible for/contributed to identity programs for the Paley Center for Media, The Council on Foreign Relations, Panasonic, The City of Baltimore, Verizon, and Trinity School of New York among others.

Joshua received his Bachelor of Fine Art in Graphic Design from Western Michigan University. Through the course of his studies he attended design and typography courses at the School of Art and Design in Basel, Switzerland, and a summer curriculum working with Studios Lust and NLXL in The Hague, Netherlands. Joshua is an active member of the American Institute of Graphic Arts and the New York Type Directors Club.

In his spare time he collects Olympic posters and buys more books than he has time to read. He enjoys riding his bike and traveling, meeting new people, and collaborating over a good glass wine or cup of coffee.

In 2008 Joshua was awarded a Fabrica Fellowship, at the Benetton Group's communication's research center in Treviso, Italy. There, he worked with a range of NGO's, museums, and social organizations. Other focuses included generative systems and interactive work.

Following his residency he served as a designer and art director for Colors Magazine. On sale in 40 countries, 3 editions, and published in 4 languages, Colors is a quarterly magazine. Established in 1991 under the editorship of Tibor Kalman, Colors' premise is that diversity is positive and all cultures have equal value.
