    I Pledge Allegiance
    .

In wake of recent budget discussions and financial policies taking shape within the United States, it seemed relevant to create a piece about the national debt. Nearly 30% of the United States’ national debt is owned to foreign governments. Of foreign investors holding U.S. public federal debt, the largest amount, about 45%, is held by the central banks of China and Japan. Here is the breakdown:
    .
    $6.927.000.000.000,00*
The United States owes to different states, corporations, individuals, and foreign governments.
    .
    $1.932.662.710.790,04*(27.90% of the previous total)
The United States owes to foreign and international governments.
    .
    $864.480.030.536,39*(44.73% of the previous total)
The United States owes to the governments of China and Japan, making them the largest individual owners of U.S. debt.
    .
    $1472.23*
The value of the money used to create this piece, %0.00000017030237229268581* of the U.S. debt held by China and Japan.
